On October 21, 2024 , the Public Prosecutor’s Office filed a fiscal requirement against Franklin Alexis Bustillo Colindres , who is held responsible as the author of the crime of reckless homicide.
The accused is accused of the death of Carlos Daniel Ponce Morales and Merlyn Yadira Romero Valladares, who died in a traffic accident that occurred on October 20 .
The victims were traveling on a motorcycle on the CA-5 Norte highway, near the village of Zambrano , at kilometer 35 from Tegucigalpa, when they collided with a car allegedly driven by Bustillo Colindres.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the incident occurred due to the reckless and negligent conduct of the accused, who did not observe the Traffic Law.
This behavior, classified as reckless homicide, implies that the person who causes the accident does so through carelessness or inexperience.
The investigation is being conducted by the National Directorate of Roads and Transportation, which has provided sufficient evidence to hold Bustillo Colindres criminally responsible.
Deaths from accidents
Over the weekend, the Morgue of the Forensic Medicine Directorate reported the entry of a dozen bodies for autopsy, four of which correspond to people who died in traffic accidents.
Road accidents continue to be the second leading cause of violent death in the country, according to official statistics.
