The Kremlin has denied having regular contact with billionaire Elon Musk. Well, not quite, there was indeed a conversation, but before the invasion of Ukraine.
Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, an expert on the subject, said “all this is false, it’s false information published in the newspaper”. He was referring to the Wall Street Journal’s information indicating that Elon Musk and Vladimir Putin had had several discussions since February 2022. However, Moscow admits to only one conversation, before 2022. It had a “technological” scope on “future” solutions. According to the Kremlin, this is the only contact between the two men.

Elon Musk is not only the boss of X and Tesla, but also of SpaceX. As a reminder, according to the Wall Street Journal’s sources, the two men have spoken several times, including this year. In particular, the deactivation of SpaceX’s Starlink satellites over Taiwan was discussed. Which could be a maneuver by Putin to please his Chinese “partner” claiming this territory.
