Russia is targeting another country, military experts say

The American Institute for the Study of War sees the situation in Moldova’s breakaway region of Transnistria as similar to the rhetoric used by Russia against Ukraine before the war.

Transnistria, the separatist region of Moldova where Russian troops are stationed, is experiencing an increasingly serious situation, and the American Institute for the Study of War has analyzed what’s happening there and possible scenarios.

Transnistria has been under Russian influence since 1992, and the presence of Russian troops in the region is a point of tension in international relations. Although Transnistria is autonomous and has its own institutions, it’s not recognized by any member of the United Nations and is considered part of Moldova.

“Moldova will become part of another country or cease to exist,” said Nikolai Patrushev, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, a few days ago, a situation that Western analysts directly describe as a ”Russian satanic plan.”

Moldovan authorities reacted to Mr. Patrushev’s threatening remarks, with representatives of the country’s Foreign Ministry declaring that they constituted “unacceptable interference in the country’s internal affairs”.
