The affected oil depot supplied fuel to the Engels-2 military airfield, where Russia’s strategic air force is based.
Ukrainian defense forces have attacked an oil depot in Russia’s Saratov region that serves as a logistics and supply base for Russian aircraft firing missiles into Ukraine, the Ukrainian General Staff said on Wednesday.
“Last night, the Kombinat Kristall oil depot in Engels, Saratov region, was attacked. Numerous explosions were recorded in the targeted area and a large-scale fire broke out.”
“The destruction of the oil depot creates serious logistical problems for the Russian occupier’s strategic aviation and significantly reduces its ability to attack peaceful Ukrainian towns and civilian property,” the Ukrainian General Staff said.
