Despite the adversity, students have shown incredible resilience, taking their lessons outdoors so as not to disrupt their education.
However, the conditions are difficult and the parents, who have already contributed what they can, are making an urgent appeal to the community at large.
“More help is needed to rebuild the school roof. Parents have given what they can, but it is not enough,” said a Honduran woman on social media.
A call for solidarity
In view of the above, several calls were made to local authorities, coffee companies in the region and any person or institution wishing to provide support.
Copán Galel School has been a pillar in the education of the youngest children in Casitas, and the community is confident that with the right support they will be able to reclaim their space and continue to provide a safe and suitable environment for learning.
The applicants stated that donations and aid can be channeled through the school management or through the local authorities of Corquín. In addition, any contribution, regardless of its size, will be of great value to the students and their families.
