Suspected one-chance armed robber arrested with pistol in Suleja Abuja

A suspected one-chance armed robber with a weapon has been taken into custody by Niger State Police Command operations in Suleja.

The command’s spokeswoman, SP Wasiu Abiodun, made this announcement in a statement on Monday, May 6, 2024. She said that the suspect, Kelechi Unanka, stated he got the pistol from a person he couldn’t recall.

The statement stated, “On April 5, 2024, at approximately 1330hrs, a police patrol team attached to ‘A’ Div Suleja intercepted two persons on a motorcycle at Suleja junction heading to Kaduna road. The motorcycle rider then quickly fled to avoid the patrol team while they were being pursued.”

 

“Consequently, one of the suspects named Kelechi Unanka, 25yrs of Pape, Abuja was arrested with a bag containing one baretta pistol, with an empty magazine, while the second suspect named Victor (a.k.a Pastor) escaped.
“During interrogation, Kelechi claimed that he received the pistol from someone he could not remember his name, however, the suspect will soon be transferred to SCID Minna for further investigation and prosecution.”
