The “Martinez family,” a peaceful cattle ranching family in the heart of the Olacho Mountains, experienced weeks of terror following a string of odd incidents that impacted their animals.
Don José, his spouse Marta, and their kids Camila and Andrés devoted their lives to raising a variety of animals on their ranch, but everything changed when they started to notice that their animals were dying for no apparent reason.
According to the TikTok legend created by content creator Dionisio D’Misterios, Andrés discovered a dead goat that showed no visible wounds or signs of attack, which was the first sign that something unusual was happening.
The family initially believed it might be a natural occurrence or an illness, but a few days later they started to hear unsettling noises coming from the corrals.
They thought that someone was poisoning the animals because of the night’s quiet, the sound of something crawling, and the unsettling pauses.
When they discovered two dead chickens and started to notice concerning trends—the animals had tiny holes in their necks and seemed to have had their blood drained—the situation got worse.
The veterinarian Camila took one of the birds to confirmed the odd condition, but he was unable to identify the cause of the phenomenon.
A terrifying sighting
The family was eating dinner one evening when they heard a knock on the window. Don José and Andrés went outside to investigate, and using flashlights, they saw a small, nimble creature with glowing red eyes and a hideous appearance that combined bat and reptilian features. The creature vanished into the darkness, leaving the family in a state of terror.
The attacks persisted despite the Martinezes’ efforts to defend their cattle and enlist the assistance of a nephew for night watch.
They once discovered six dead animals in one night, so they moved their animals to a different area; the attacks ceased when they did so, which led them to conclude that the strange creature was drawn to something associated with the cattle.
The mythical chupacabra?
The community was filled with rumors and conjecture about the Martinez family’s experience; some people think it might be the fabled Chupacabra, while others write it off as paranoia.
Nonetheless, the effects on the farm were disastrous, causing them to partially give up their way of life and sell a number of animals.
