The Suspect Behind The Murder of Pepe Lobo Son Has Been Captured.

Honduran authorities announced this Wednesday the arrest of the alleged mastermind behind the murder of Said Lobo, son of former Honduran President Porfirio “Pepe” Lobo, in which three other young people were also killed.
According to the report by Security Minister Gustavo Sánchez, the detainee is a member of the Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang.
“In Operation Scorpion, directed by @dpi_honduras, we captured Roberto Oyuela Matamoros, a member of MS-13 considered the mastermind behind the murder of Said Lobo, son of former President Porfirio Lobo Sosa,” reported Security Minister Gustavo Sánchez.

Murder of Said Lobo
In the early morning of July 14, 2022, at the Torre Centro Morazán shopping center in Tegucigalpa, heavily armed individuals intercepted the vehicle in which Said Lobo and some of his friends were traveling.
After getting them out of the vehicle, the criminals opened fire on them.
One of the gunmen was wounded during the attack by a person who repelled the attack from inside the parking lot. However, the suspect was assisted and taken away by his accomplices, who fled in a pickup truck.
Also killed in the shootout, which was captured on video, were Luis Zelaya, 23, a relative of former Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces, Romeo Vásquez; Salomón Velásquez; and Norlan Enrique Rodríguez, who was Said Lobo Bonilla’s driver.
Detainees
On July 16, 2022, prosecutors from the Public Ministry organized a raid on a house located in the Miraflores Sur neighborhood, Villa Cristina Street, where they managed to arrest Norma Alicia García , an active member of MS-13.
García’s job was to store and safeguard objects and property used in the commission of crimes. The Amarok, a black vehicle with no license plates and gunshot wounds, used in the crime, was also seized.
Ever Ezequiel Espinoza Martínez, Daniel Alejandro Almendares Ordóñez and Erick David Macías Rodríguez were also arrested in the case. The latter was found dead in June 2024 inside his cell at the maximum security prison ‘El Pozo’ , located in Ilama, Santa Bárbara.
Sentence for the death of Pepe Lobo’s son
On June 19, 2024, Ever Ezequiel Espinoza Martínez was sentenced to 96 years in prison for the crimes of criminal association and murder against the four young men.
Meanwhile, Erick David Macías Rodríguez (dead) and Norma Alicia García were sentenced to 12 years and eight months in prison for concealing murder and criminal conspiracy.
Daniel Alejandro Almendares Ordóñez will face trial from May 19 to 23, 2025.
Almendares Ordóñez faces charges of multiple murder and criminal conspiracy, according to the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Crimes Against Life (FEDCV).
