Tired of being added to WhatsApp groups without your permission? We tell you how to solve this problem.
Since their creation, WhatsApp groups have become a popular tool, but also a source of annoyance for many users.
Fortunately, the platform has included an option to avoid being added to groups without consent. This setting is especially useful now that groups can include up to 1,204 members.
Steps to configure group privacy on WhatsApp
Follow these steps to ensure that you are only added to groups with your permission:
- Access WhatsApp settings:
- Open the app and tap the three-dot icon in the top right corner.
- Select ‘Settings’.
- Find the privacy option:
- Within the settings menu, select ‘Privacy’.
- Find and tap the ‘Groups’ option.
- Configure who can add you to groups:
WhatsApp offers three options:- Everyone: Anyone, even people not on your contact list, can add you to groups without your approval.
- My Contacts: Only people saved in your contact list can add you.
- My contacts, except …: Allows you to block specific contacts or even all contacts, so that no one can add you without sending a prior invitation.
How to completely avoid being added to groups
If you want to completely block the possibility of being added to groups without your permission , select the ‘My contacts, except…’ option and exclude all your contacts. This way:
- No one will be able to add you directly to a group.
- People who try to do so will receive a message asking them to send you a private chat invitation. You will have three days to accept or decline this invitation before it expires.
