Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orbán, could be Donald Trump’s emissary for a new “peace mission” in Ukraine as early as December.
According to Szabad Europza, after the November 5 election, Trump and Orbán had several telephone conversations.
Solely the first call was protocol. The others, the last of which took place last week, were devoted to specific issues.
Openly pro-Putin, Viktor Orban seems an odd choice for negotiation, to say the least.
According to the source, with these contacts, Mr. Trump wanted to assess Russia’s ability to continue fighting and resisting Vladimir Putin’s regime.
According to Viktor Orbán, given the difference in resources, an immediate ceasefire should be reached first. Only then should negotiations on a long-term peace be initiated. These ideas are quite close to Trump’s promises to “end the war in 24 hours”.
According to a government source, in this situation, “Orbán’s peacekeeping mission 2.0” could begin in December. Details are not yet known. But it’s very likely that during his tour, he will meet again with Zelensky, Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
