Two teenagers were rescued by police in a mountainous area of the Santa Rosa community, in El Sauce, León, Nicaragua, after being deceived by alleged criminals who contacted them through Facebook.
The girls, aged 14 and 15 , students at the Miguel Bonilla Institute in Managua, disappeared last Friday, November 22.
According to family members’ testimonies, both left letters in which they assured that they were fine and that they were going to work, but their mothers did not recognize the handwriting .
In addition, none of the minors had any belongings , which increased suspicions.
A key piece in the investigation was the testimony of a classmate, who claimed to have heard them talk about going to León.
This, along with information from a Facebook contact with whom one of the girls was communicating, led to the rescue.
During the rescue, authorities arrested several people involved in the kidnapping , who allegedly lured the minors under false pretenses.
The suspects are being held at the El Sauce police station and will be brought before the judicial authorities in the coming hours.
Although the teenagers were found in good health, authorities did not provide details about their condition during the time they were missing.
