An eight-year-old girl and a 34-year-old man were “seriously injured” in a shooting in a west London neighbourhood on Sunday, the Metropolitan Police (Met) said on Monday.
Both the girl and the boy had to be taken to hospital as a result of the shots received in the Ladbroke Grove neighbourhood at around 17:30 GMT yesterday afternoon.
“This is a horrific incident which has left two people seriously injured, including a young child who is thankfully in a stable condition this morning,” said Superintendent Owen Renowden.
The officer appealed to those citizens “who may have been in the area at the time of the shooting. Did you hear gunshots at around 5:30 GMT yesterday afternoon? Did you see anyone fleeing that area?” the officer asked.
Renowden also insisted that any information they can provide related to what happened “is important, no matter how insignificant it may seem.”
The Met revealed that the girl’s injuries were “non-life threatening” while they are still waiting to hear the man’s condition.
A 32-year-old woman was also taken to hospital as a “precautionary measure” but was not injured in the shooting.
