Russia’s ambassador to the UK has claimed that London is engaging in a proxy war, given the significant military aid it has provided since the conflict began.
In an interview with the BBC, Andrei Kelin stated that Kyiv is on the verge of falling, as Ukrainian resistance is becoming increasingly weak.
In recent weeks, Russian forces have recaptured areas in the east of Ukraine, and Russia currently occupies 18% of the country. Meanwhile, Ukraine still controls part of Russia’s Kursk region following a surprise breakthrough in August.
The Russian ambassador argued that the UK is involved in a “proxy war” since it supplies weapons that are”killing Russian soldiers and civilians.”
This interview comes as Volodymyr Zelenskyy has repeatedly urged Western nations to lift all restrictions on the use of Western weaponry directly within Russia.
The Ukrainian president also expressed frustration over the slowing pace of Western arms deliveries.
