The UK recently sent Ukraine dozens of additional Storm Shadow long-range missiles, in its first major arms delivery to Kiev since Keir Starmer became prime minister in July.
Citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter, Bloomberg said the unannounced deliveries were made several weeks ago, as Kiev faced a shortage of long-range missiles.
The sources declined to specify the delivery date or the number of missiles provided for security reasons, but confirmed that the weapons were transferred before the US and UK lifted restrictions on Ukraine’s long-range missile launches into Russia in early November.
The Ministry of Defence declined to comment on the delivery because it “would only benefit Vladimir Putin”, but stressed that the UK’s support for Ukraine remained “unwavering”.
The last confirmed transfer of Storm Shadows took place in April, under former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, as part of the UK’s “largest ever” military aid to Kiev, Bloomberg noted.
