The United States has promised a “firm” response after Washington officially confirmed the involvement of North Korean soldiers against Ukrainian forces.
During a visit to Brussels, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
In a joint press conference with Rutte, Blinken stated that North Korea’s involvement warranted a “firm response” and even closer cooperation between allied nations.
This statement comes as Kyiv was targeted by Russian missiles on Wednesday, the first such attack since August. However, the head of Ukraine’s National Security Council warned that Moscow is planning more intense attacks in the coming days.
According to Andrii Kovalenko, Wednesday’s attacks were relatively low in intensity, while Russia may soon strike the Ukrainian capital with ballistic missiles.
