Nineteen days after the disappearance of the minor known as Sofia , 12 years old, police authorities found her dismembered body in Valle del Cauca, southwest of Colombia. The minor was reported missing on September 29 when she went out to buy shampoo to bathe her pet in the town of Villagorgona.

According to police reports, the minor’s body parts were found in bags abandoned in a sugar cane plantation in the La Regina sector, a rural area of the municipality of Candelaria.
” I realized that the girl was taking a while and the house she was going to was close, that’s why she had left alone (…) On other occasions when she had made the same journey, it took her five minutes to return ,” said her aunt Katherine Delgado to El Tiempo, shocked by her disappearance.

A 45-second clip captured by security cameras in the Vallecaucano municipality of Candelaria shows the last moment of life of the girl Sofia Delgado, who walks along the fence of a house, two blocks from where her family lives.
The short clip, shared by international media such as El Tiempo and Caracol, details the case of the little girl and the judicial operations that were carried out after her disappearance.
After the clip went viral, Internet users have shared the video on social media , especially on X (formerly Twitter) and on the YouTube platform , where Internet users have expressed shock at the case of the 12-year-old girl.
Who is responsible for the death of Sofía Delgado?
Colombian police authorities have identified a couple of neighbours of the girl’s family as the alleged perpetrators of the crime : a man who ran a supply store and his wife. Both are in custody and have reportedly confessed to the murder, as well as the place where they dumped the body.
According to international media, the attackers kidnapped Sofia and took her to a residence in Cali, where the police found traces of blood and other evidence of the crime that implicates them as responsible for the case.
For her part, the governor of Valle del Cauca, Dilian Francisca Toro, informed local media that the man who confessed to the crime had raped another girl years ago in Candelaria.
The case adds to the many crimes related to the death of minors worldwide, highlighting the insecurity of children and the difficult task of police security.
