WhatsApp continues to update its services to provide a better experience to all its users around the world. Now, it has launched a new feature that allows for a transcription of audio messages that are sent .
This means that if you are sent an audio and you cannot or do not want to listen to it, it can be converted to text.
With this new tool, the messaging app aims to provide a more practical approach. This makes it much easier to read messages instead of listening to them , without losing the content of the audio.
Audio transcribed on WhatsApp will be safe
Privacy remains a priority for WhatsApp, too. Transcripts will be stored on the user’s device and protected by the platform’s signature end-to-end encryption , which will help ensure that no one other than the phone’s owner can access these messages.
This new feature will be rolled out progressively across the world. It will also be available in several languages and is expected to extend beyond Spanish, English, Russian and Portuguese . This multilingual approach reinforces the company’s commitment to adapt to the cultural and linguistic diversity of its more than two billion users.
This is how you can activate transcription
Activating this tool is a simple procedure. To enable it, you will need to perform the following steps when the option is available:
- Open the app and go to Settings .
- Select the Chats option .
- Turn on the Voicemail Transcriptions feature .
- Defines the language you want to use for transcriptions.
When you do this process, the messages will begin to be transcribed and to do so you will only have to hold down the voice note, there, the “Transcribe” option will appear and the text will appear on the screen.
It is worth noting that, depending on the length of the message, the translation may take a few seconds . This new tool will be available for both iPhone and Android devices.
