WHAT HAPPENED?
At half-time of a Champions League contest in Catalunya, Blancos fan Javi Bridge – who has more than 1.8 million followers on TikTok – took aim at Barca’s 17-year-old wonderkid. He said in a video posted on social media: “Has anyone seen Lamine Yamal? For me he’s good, but in games against Bayern, you cules think this guy is going to score a goal. Today he’s not going to score a goal. He’s disappeared.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Yamal was unaware of what had been said, but still set about silencing any doubters on the field. He delivered an assist and several impressive runs as Barcelona swept their way – courtesy of a Raphinha hat-trick and effort from Robert Lewandowski against his former club – to a 4-1 win.

WHAT YAMAL SAID
After the game, Yamal made a point of responding to those that had been quick to write him off. Replying to outspoken Bridge, the talented teenager simply wrote: “Rest up, kid”. The youngster also included a number of crying with laughter emojis.
WHAT NEXT?
Real will be hoping to get under Yamal’s skin ahead of their Clasico clash with Barcelona on Saturday. They will, however, also be wary of antagonising the Euro 2024 winner as he prepares to travel with the current La Liga leaders to Santiago Bernabeu.
