Singer Raphael, 81, was hospitalized after suffering a stroke while filming the Christmas edition of the Spanish show ‘La Revuelta’.
“He was filming the programme, he didn’t feel well and he left on his own to get the ambulance,” said a TVE spokesman.
According to information from some media outlets such as El País, the singer felt ill and walked himself to the ambulance, which took him to a hospital.
People who were near the Teatro Príncipe Gran Vía, where the program was being recorded with David Broncano, recorded the moment when the singer got into the ambulance.
Raphael has two concerts scheduled for this weekend at the WiZink Center in Madrid, both performances have not been cancelled.
The precise state of health of the singer of ‘Como yo te amo’ is currently unknown.
Raphael began his career in the 1960s and stood out for his dramatic style and powerful voice, which allowed him to conquer international stages. He is a pioneer in bringing Spanish-language pop music to a global level.
His best-known songs include “Yo soy aquella” (I am that one) , “En carne viva” (In the raw) , “Mi gran noche” (My big night) and “Digan lo que digan” (Whatever they say) .
