The voluntary declaration of Victor de Aldama, who is facing serious accusations in the Koldo case, has caused a real political earthquake this Thursday.
In his testimony before Judge Ismael Moreno of the National Court , De Aldama revealed that he had paid 400,000 euros in cash to the former Minister of Transport, José Luis Ábalos, and 250,000 euros to his then advisor, Koldo García. He also referred to the delivery of another 15,000 euros to the Secretary of Organisation of the PSOE, Santos Cerdán.
Despite currently being in prison for another matter related to fraud in the hydrocarbon sector, his statement is framed within his alleged role as a commission agent in a network of public contract awards, specifically in the acquisition of masks during the 2020 health crisis.
De Aldama alleged that of the 400,000 euros he gave to Ábalos, 250,000 came directly from the mask scheme, while the rest was for other purposes.
In addition, he provided details of other payments made in kind, such as the rent of an apartment in Madrid for a woman who had personal ties to the former minister, as well as vacation expenses and various requests from his former advisor, Koldo García.
Regarding the payment to Santos Cerdán, De Aldama stated that it was his advisor who handed over the 15,000 euros, and that he was present at the transaction. He also claimed that some of these payments were given to Koldo García’s brother, and admitted having taken money to the Ministry of Transport.
