Super Eagles striker, Ahmed Musa, has responded to a trendy video of him not shaking the Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf. The video has since generated reactions.
In the trending video, Musa was seen avoiding a handshake offered to him by Kano state governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Instead of shaking the governor, Ahmed Musa squatted while extending his fist in the form of him, saying, “Rankadede.”
Clarifying why he did not shake the governor’s hand, Musa, in a tweet on Tuesday expressed that “it’s disheartening to see a simple act of cultural respect blown out of proportion. In our Northern culture, the gesture of kneeling, shaking hands etc signifies the highest form of respect.”He described this his intention when he greeted deputy governor in such a manner, adding that when it came to greeting the governor, he chose to bow and not shake his hands, honoring him in a way that is deeply rooted in tradition.

He decried the level of energy invested into that rather than focusing on more national pressing issues.
“It’s unfortunate that amidst all the pressing issues our nation faces – economic hardships, security challenges, religious clashes and more – this seemingly insignificant moment has garnered so much attention,” he said.
He implored the public to channel “our collective efforts towards addressing the real issues at hand. Let’s focus on uplifting one another, fostering unity, and working towards a better future for all. And with this, I rest my case.”
