The year 2025 begins under fire in Ukraine.
While the day before, the Ukrainian president had, in his greetings to the nation, wished that 2025 would be the year of negotiations leading to the “end of the war”, Russian strikes rocked Kiev on New Year’s Day.
The Russian armed forces carried out a large-scale attack against Kiev. According to the country’s authorities, a total of 111 drones were launched. Two people are reported to have lost their lives in the attack, and seven others were injured. On Telegram, Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his desolation: “Even on New Year’s Eve, Russia only cares about hurting Ukraine”.
