This would have been the mark that the hitmen used to identify the unit of engineer Lilian Elizabeth Padilla Martínez and commit the crime.
The investigation into the murder of Lilian Elizabeth Padilla Martínez, which occurred last Saturday in the Villas Mackay sector of San Pedro Sula, Cortés, has revealed a key finding that could help identify those responsible for the crime.
According to the Police Directorate of Investigations (DPI), a small sticker with the word ‘Yeti’ was intentionally placed on the rear window of the victim’s vehicle, which would have served to allow the attackers to accurately identify the truck and confirm that Padilla Martínez was the one driving it.
Authorities emphasized that the civil engineer did not usually use stickers on her car, which reinforces the hypothesis of a premeditated action.
The vehicle had more than 25 bullet holes, while the forensic examination of the body confirmed seven gunshot wounds, according to the preliminary report.
For his part, the head of the National Police’s Office of Strategies and Communications in the northern zone, Edgardo Barahona, informed through the Hoy Mismo news program on TSi that the initial file has already been sent to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
“The initial investigative file on this case has already been sent to the Technical Agency for Criminal Investigation (ATIC) of the Public Ministry, since the prosecutor who learned of the fact considered that it would be a possible case of femicide,” Barahona stated.
The police spokesperson explained that ATIC will be the body in charge of carrying out all the procedures during the month of December.
“The DPI collected evidence at the scene and obtained statements from several people, all of which will help identify who is responsible,” he explained.
According to initial investigations, two individuals allegedly participated in the attack, traveling in a van, from which they fired at the victim.
“There are reports of two people involved who allegedly fired shots, causing the death of this 37-year-old woman,” Barahona added, clarifying that Padilla Martínez was a merchant and not a judge, as initially reported.
