The Russian president has failed in all his goals – Joe Biden
On January 10, Washington and London announced new coordinated sanctions against the Russian energy sector, particularly against Gazprom Neft, the subsidiary of the large state-owned Gazprom group.
These sanctions aim to undermine “the Kremlin’s largest source of funding” for the war effort in Ukraine. After the announcement, the outgoing American president told the press that the Kremlin leader was in “bad shape” and that it was “really important not to give him (Vladimir Putin) any respite”.
Ukraine cannot be abandoned
On Monday in Washington, during a speech on the results of his foreign policy, Joe Biden insisted that the United States and all its Western allies could “not abandon” Ukraine in its fight against the Russian invasion.
Just a week before the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump, he declared: “We helped the Ukrainians stop (Russian President Vladimir) Putin. And three years later, Putin has failed in all his strategic objectives (…) He failed because of NATO unity (…) We cannot give up.”
