12 Year Old Student Brought a Loaded Gun to School in Chaco
It happened at an educational establishment in the town of Machagai
A 12-year-old student from Primary School 179 in the town of Machagai , Chaco province, attended classes carrying a 9-millimeter caliber pistol with several bullets in the magazine.
The incident occurred yesterday morning, when the minor displayed the weapon in front of his classmates, causing astonishment and concern.
According to information accessed by local media outlet Diario Norte , the revolver belongs to his father, who is an active member of the Chaco Police .
Although no injuries or major incidents were reported, the presence of a loaded firearm in a school setting posed a serious risk to all members of the community, and it remains unclear why the student brought it to school or whether the minor has any knowledge of how to handle it.
After being notified, officers from the local police station went to the institution to confiscate the pistol and ensure the safety of the students and faculty.
The case has been transferred to the Machagai prosecutor’s office, which has initiated an investigation to determine who is responsible. The minor’s father, who owned the weapon, is expected to face legal charges for what happened.
This case adds to a series of similar incidents reported in various locations across the country recently.
A couple of days ago, a 15-year-old boy entered School No. 364 “Soldado Aguirre” in Villa Gobernador Gálvez , in the city of Rosario , Santa Fe, armed. After being confronted by the school’s principal, he escaped by firing a shot in the air in the street. Hours later, he was arrested by the police after being reported by his own mother. A similar incident had already occurred some time ago.
It all started after a 911 call from the school located on Bordabehere Street at 2200 , which alerted that a student had run away from the place carrying a gun and firing shots.
Upon arriving at the scene, the police officers were greeted by the principal, who described what had happened. During his escape, the student left his backpack in the school’s office, which was also documented by the officers.
The Juvenile Court of the 4th Nomination is involved in the case , which ordered interviews to be conducted with members of the teaching staff and the minor’s mother, in addition to continuing the proceedings at the 26th Sub-Police Station .
The student was later arrested in the area of Mosconi Street, 2500 , after being reported by his mother , according to police sources. He was then taken into custody.
Although official sources did not specify what type of weapon was used or whether it was seized, the explosion in the air was confirmed by various witnesses and the responding officers.
Regarding the incident, a mother of a fifth-grade student said that her daughter called her from inside the school to warn her that a classmate had entered with a revolver.
“When I came to pick her up, I told the headmistress, and she said it could be a ‘prank’ the kids were playing. She kept me waiting for half an hour, and when I walked in, I saw the janitor struggling with the boy. He came running up behind me and, at the school entrance, pulled out his gun and threw himself out,” she said.
The woman stated that, upon realizing the situation, she suffered a nervous breakdown and became desperate to find her daughter. “I told them what was happening, but they didn’t give me any attention. The principal asked me to leave,” she said.
Another mother who was at the school’s entrance stated that this wasn’t the first incident of this kind at the school. “Last week, a kid came in with a gun too. What are they waiting for? For a shot to go off and hurt someone else?” she said.
