How do you embrace people who see you as less than human? In the Arab world, Africans are still treated like slaves; domestic workers beaten, migrants jailed without trial, and in horrifying cases like Dubai, lions released on Black workers as a “show of power.” Meanwhile, the West doesn’t use lions; it uses the media, prisons, and police bullets to animalize us, portraying Black people as violent, lazy, or undeserving of dignity. From the Arab slave trade centuries ago to modern kafala systems in Gulf countries, the hatred runs deep. And in Europe or America, we’re profiled, caged, and killed like animals. Both systems thrive on anti-Blackness, and that makes it hard to see Arabs or the West as allies. Until Africa rises and reclaims her power, we will remain the global scapegoat for their insecurities and greed.
The lion is playful. Otherwise, he would have mauled and killed him if it was attacking. It’s a pet lion which no doubt came from Africa as well.
Africans should stay out of Arab territories, let them do their manual labor. I know people need to provide for themselves but this is too much to put up with.
