Osun Police and Residents Debunk Rumoured Bandit Attàck on Iwo–Osogbo Road
The Osun State Police Command, alongside several eyewitnesses, has dismissed reports of a bandit invasion along the Iwo–Osogbo route, clarifying that the scare stemmed from a misunderstanding following a minor motor accident.
According to reliable sources within the police force and members of the public directly involved in the incident, the situation began when a vehicle allegedly struck another from behind and failed to stop, reportedly out of fear of being lynched.
It was those chasing the fleeing driver that made calls raising a false alarm claiming that the vehicle they were pursuing was potential kidnàppers.
The alarm drew the attention of nearby residents, prompting the police to deploy additional officers from Osogbo to assess the situation and ensure the safety of the motorists involved.
Individuals connected to the incident are currently with the police as investigations continue.
The Osun State Police Command and several eyewitnesses have confirmed that no Fulani herders or bandits were involved, and no attàck, kidnàpping or attempt occurred.
