Man Arrested For Abusing 13 Year Old girl in La Ceiba
The man was captured in the Zelaya neighborhood of the neighborhood known as the ‘Bride of Honduras.’
This Wednesday, a Honduran man accused of sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl was arrested in the city of La Ceiba , department of Atlántida, Caribbean region of Honduras.
The arrest was carried out in the Zelaya neighborhood of the city known as the ‘Bride of Honduras’ by agents of the Police Investigations Directorate (DPI) in conjunction with the National Directorate of Prevention and Community Security (DNPSC).
According to the authorities, the 32-year-old man , originally from the neighborhood where he was arrested, had been subject to a restraining order since February 27.
The Honduran is presumed responsible for the crime of continued aggravated rape against a minor of just 13 years old.
Although details such as who filed the complaint and the length of time he committed the crime are unknown, the investigation into his case is already being conducted by the relevant authorities.
What is the penalty for rape in Honduras?
According to the Honduran Penal Code, Article 249: “The perpetrator of a crime of rape must be punished with prison sentences of nine (9) to thirteen (13) years, prohibition of residence and approach to the victim for twice the time of the prison sentence.”
But this penalty should be increased by a third if the victim is under 14 years old, as is the case of the man from La Ceiba arrested on Wednesday.
Child abuse in Honduras
In 2024, more than 3,300 reports of different types of abuse against minors were reported in the first three months of the year, with girls being the most affected.
Most of these abuses occurred within the family environment, according to the Secretariat of Children, Adolescents and Family (Senaf).

In mid-February, a 45-year-old man was arrested for raping his 11-year-old stepdaughter and forcing his own 9-year-old son to perform fellatio on him , the police report said.
This event was recorded in the village of San José in the municipality of El Paraíso, in the department of the same name, in the east of the country.
