Islamic scholar Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has stirred controversy again after claiming that the bandits terrorising several parts of Nigeria are actually Fulani herdsmen fighting for their survival.
He admitted that kidnapping children is evil, but argued that some people see it as a “lesser evil” compared to military actions — though he agreed that evil is evil, whether big or small.
Gumi explained that banditry has grown from simple farmer-herder disputes into a national security crisis because the herders believe their livelihood and grazing routes are being threatened.
Nigeria needs real solutions — not excuses for crime and not support for terror.
