In recent hours, a video has emerged showing the exact moment a car, apparently without brakes, struck a security guard in a residential area of ​​Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras.

The images, captured by security cameras installed at the location, show how shortly before 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 27, the man was working at the Concepción II residential complex.

However, when he was removing the cones to allow a car, a tourist type, into the neighborhood, it was traveling so fast that it hit him, lifting him up and dragging him on the hood for several seconds.

After the unfortunate incident, the man, whose identity has not been revealed, fell onto the dirt section of the residential entrance, completely injured and covered in blood.

Neighbors, who recorded what happened after the accident, said he was taken to a medical center where he remains hospitalized due to the severity of the injuries.

The vehicle’s passengers also suffered minor injuries after the vehicle crashed into a small wall a few steps from the entrance to the neighborhood.

The unit’s users, whose identities were also not revealed, were treated and released as their injuries were not serious.

It is currently unknown whether authorities are aware of the accident and whether the corresponding responsibilities for the incident involving the security guard have been determined.

Traffic accidents in Honduras

Between January 1 and May 1, 2025, 5,471 traffic accidents have been recorded,  according to the Online Police Statistical System ( Sepol ) of the Ministry of Security.

Francisco Morazán  (2,335)  Cortés  (2,273) , Choluteca  (203) and  Comayagua  (124), are the departments with the most cases according to the institution’s report.
