VIDEO: Motorcycle Skids and Car Catches Fire in two Separate Incidents on the CA-5 Highway.
A motorcyclist was saved from death after skidding in a miscalculated turn, and a vehicle was completely burned in two separate incidents.
A young man was saved from death on Sunday afternoon after his motorcycle , apparently speeding, skidded on the CA-5 highway, at kilometer 100, between the municipalities of Comayagua and Siguatepeque, in central Honduras.
An amateur video shows the moment when the subject tries to cut through one of the turns on the busy highway, apparently speeding, but it doesn’t turn out as expected.
The young man slides his motorcycle for several meters and invades the opposite lane, fortunately no vehicle passed at that moment.
In another incident, also on the CA-5 highway on Sunday, a vehicle caught fire and was completely burned.
Several fire department units responded to the scene to extinguish the flames and carry out cooling operations. They then proceeded to remove the burned-out car.
The truck caught fire at its rear wheels due to overheating of the brake system, the Fire Department reported.
The incident occurred between kilometer 130 and 133 of the Carrizales village, in Taulabé, Comayagua.
The never-ending one on the CA-5 North
It’s worth mentioning that in recent months, citizens traveling on the CA-5 North have repeatedly reported that individuals on motorcycles are using this road to carry out illegal “rides” and even “piques.”
In response, the DNVT has implemented a series of actions, including strategic operations, to prevent such incidents from continuing.
According to data from the Traffic Accident Investigation Section (SIAT) of the DNVT , 75% of accidents in Honduras involve motorcyclists.
Of the 75% of motorcycle drivers involved in accidents , 40% die , 54% are injured , and only 6% are unharmed.
