Davido and Pinnick Agree to Settle Out of Court in N2bn Breach of Contract Suit.
Mr. Amaju Pinnick, former President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has agreed with musician David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, to settle their dispute out of court.
Pinnick had previously sued Davido for N2 billion over a breach of contract. The lawsuit stemmed from Davido’s failure to perform at the 19th edition of the ‘Warri Again Concert’ after receiving the agreed fees.
In the lawsuit, Pinnick sought N2 billion in general damages from Davido and his music label, Davido Music Worldwide Limited, for not honoring the concert contract. Additionally, Pinnick’s company requested N150 million for legal fees and N30 million for filing costs.
However, during proceedings at a Delta High Court in Effurun, both parties informed the court of their decision to settle out of court, which the court approved.
Justice Michael Obi of High Court Three, Effurun, commended the parties for their amicable resolution.
Davido’s lawyer, Mr. Oladayo Ogungbe, confirmed the out-of-court settlement and announced that Davido would perform at the Warri concert on October 4 as part of the settlement terms. Ogungbe emphasized the benefits of settling out of court, describing it as a win-win situation for both parties.
The ‘Warri Again’ concert is an annual event organized by Pinnick to celebrate entertainers from the Niger Delta region.
