On Tuesday December 31, Ukrainian military intelligence (GUR) claimed that a naval drone had successfully destroyed a Russian helicopter in the Black Sea.
Another machine, which was able to return to its base, was damaged in the attack.
The operation took place on the west coast of Crimea, near Cape Tarkhankut. According to the GUR, a Magura V5 maritime drone equipped with R-73 SeeDragon missiles hit a Russian Mi-8 helicopter.
As reported by L’Indépendant, this is the first time that a Ukrainian navy drone has shot down an aerial target. This information, relayed by Ukrainian intelligence services, hasn’t yet been independently verified.
So far, Moscow has made no comment.
