Putin claims he wouldn’t have invaded Ukraine if Trump had won 2020 US election

Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that he would not have invaded Ukraine if Donald Trump had won the 2020 U.S. presidential election.

Speaking on national television, the Russian president also expressed his willingness to negotiate peace in Ukraine after nearly three years of conflict.

“If he [President Trump] had been the president, if the victory wasn’t stolen from him in 2020, maybe the Ukrainian crisis that arose in 2022 would never have happened,” he told RT.

“We believe the current president’s statements about his readiness to work together. We are always open to this and ready for negotiations. It would be better for us to meet, based on the realities of today, to talk calmly,” he said, referring to a potential meeting with Donald Trump.

The Russian leader also claimed it was difficult to negotiate with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, citing a decree signed by the Ukrainian leader that prohibits any discussions with him.
